Most post offices ( posta or HPT) are open Monday to Friday
7/8am-8pm and Saturday 8am-1pm. In big towns and resorts, some offices
are open daily, sometimes until 10pm. Stamps ( marke ) can also be
bought at newsstands.
Public telephones use magnetic cards ( telekarta ), which come in
denominations of 12kn, 23kn, 37kn and 67kn; you can buy these from post
offices or newspaper kiosks. When making long-distance and international
calls, it's usually easier to go to the post office, where you're
assigned a cabin and given the bill afterwards.
Zagreb is the only place where Internet access has really caught on,
although you should be able to find at least one place in most towns;
expect to pay around 15kn per hour online.
